Keelboats
Keelboats
offer a mainly 'dry' sail. Our
fleet of 3 Jeanneau Sun 2000's are
20 feet long and provide the sailor with plenty of comfortable space in the
cockpit and great performance.
Why should I choose keelboats?
- Brilliant boats for an
introduction to cruising, their responsiveness and comfort is great for a
student looking to skipper their own boat or take that first step in cruising
training.
- We go more in depth into
navigation and we can take you on trips and day sails.
- The sailor
doesn't have to be too agile.
- Keelboat sailing
is perfect if you have a heavier body - so you don't have balance
difficulties.
- Keelboat sailing
is comfortable if you are tall - there is plenty of space, so you don't have to
hunch up.
- No capsizing -
so you don't get wet and have to pull yourself back into the boat.
- More responsive
than yachts, so your learn the practical skills of sailing faster.

Dinghy Sailing
Dinghy Sailing is more responsive and you would wear a wetsuit to sail.
We have a range of different types and sizes of dinghy, so we have one to suit your
size and ability. New boats were added to the fleet this year, to offer you
great fun on the water (check out our equipment
pages).
Why should I
choose Dinghies?
- Dinghies are the most responsive
sailing vessel you can sail, which means you learn more, faster - get it
wrong, get wet!
- You can solo sail - which means you can
sail a boat on your own.
- You can also sail with 1 or 2 crew,
depending on which boat you are sailing.
- Dinghies are faster and more fun.
- The instructor teaches you from a
safety boat, so from day one you are sailing your own boat.
- Dinghy sailing is brilliant fun,
exhilarating and can become very competitive.
- NOT recommended if you are unfit or
have a large body, as you need to be able to pull yourself back into the
boat after a capsize.
Comfort - There are over 100 wetsuits of all shapes and sizes too, from xxs to xxl. We
stock a large range of neoprene booties to keep your feet warm. Both
wetsuits and booties are rentable from us, or you can bring your own. Plus a
stock of spray tops are available to help keep away wind chill.
Safety - We have a stock of helmets to protect you from the boom, which
are optional for over 16's. A full range of boyancy aids and
lifejackets in every size are provided and must be worn at all times.
We work on a training ratio of 1 instructor to a maximum of 6 beginner
students or 8 improver students.
